Jammu, Dec 29: Children at Natrang’s Winter Theatre Workshop-2014 for children had the rarest occasion to work with magic man of theatre, Balwant Thakur. Known for his highly innovative and creative work with Children Balwant Thakur who has plays like ‘Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hai’ ‘Aap Hamare Hain Kaun’ ‘Rang Badalti Dunia’ ‘Kahani Ek Kuttey Ki’ ‘Guldasta’ ‘Hum Hain Naa’ ‘Humen Kuch Kehna Hai’ and a recent production ‘Udaan’ with 600 young performers to his credit had his magic spell on children while conducting exclusive exercises devised by him of his work of over thirty years. Terming theatre as an amazing instrument of personality transformation, Balwant Thakur said that theatre should be introduced in all the schools if parents and the educational institutions are really serious to groom children as finest human beings. Balwant Thakur further said that “we should attempt to train children, as far as we can, to see as to look, to hear as well as to listen, to observe with knowledge and imagination; to perceive, to relate, to associate. Theatre is one of the most effective medium of human development and Natrang in the last thirty two years has developed such training methodology for children, through the practice of which have shown amazing results. Theatre is magical in transforming and grooming a personality. Children imbibe lot of self confidence and they fine-tune their communication skills as well. Drama is one of the arts through the practice of which children may grow and mature as superior human beings. Through the creative aspect of dramatic work children may bring to birth that which is original (to them) from material which is old; through its interpretative aspect they may grow in sympathetic understanding of the world and of people by contact with good and suitable plays. Both aspects involve the whole person, body, mind, emotions, spirit; both are ultimately one; both may be vital to the development of children. Natrang offers a rarest opportunity for children to get groomed in a highly creative ambience. They are given lot of artistic opportunities to explore their immense inner abilities. Natrang is currently conducting an eight day Winter Theatre workshop under Natrang Children Winter Theatre Workshop Aarushi Thakur who after graduating from St Stephens College, New Delhi did her Masters from University of Leicester, U.K. and a specialized training from Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London. Experienced theatre director/actor Neeraj Kant is the expert for this workshop. Thirty five Children are participating in this unique workshop which include Gopi Sharma, Sanyam Gupta, Shreya Gupta, Riya Jandial, Agam Kaur, Chander Pratap Singh Bhau, Chirag Anand, Vidit Shirsh, Samyak Shirsh, Khushi Jandial, Ayn Bhola, Jasmeh Kaur, Yajur Mahajan, Divyan Sharma, Asma Gul, Vandita Sharma, Uddhav Pratap Vohra, Samrat Singh Kotwal, Aaditya Pratap Singh Charak, Atul Sharma, Sarthak Sharma, Akhil Sharma, Nikhil Sharma, Aniket K. Chakrabarty, Dev Vrat Sharma, Kriti Chauhan, Aanandita Sethi, Suditi Jamwal, Navya Jain, Swaranjali Samyal, Prial Tickoo, Devina Tickoo, Mihir Gujral, Anirudh Bhatia and Mania Gujral. |
