New Delhi, Dec 29: Worried over delays in border infrastructural projects, the government has initiated several steps to give a push to road construction in the frontier states, especially in Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern region.
Officials in the Defence Ministry told UNI that in order to closely monitor the progress of the strategic infrastructural projects, the border states have been asked to constitute an Empowered Committee under the chairmanship of their Chief Secretaries.
These states include Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and Uttarakhand.
The proposed Empowered Committee will comprise Principle Secretaries of Revenue, Forest, Mining, PWD and Power departments along with Chief Engineers of the Border Road Organisation.
