Police Martyrs Memorial T-20 emerging one of best sports event: SSP Kathua

Kathua, Jan 9: Kathua, Jan 9: Asserting that the 5th Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone Inter club T-20 Cricket championship 2014-15 scheduled from 11th January in Kathua is emerging one of the best championships organized in North zone in which National, International and Ranji Trophy players participate.
The said tournament is jointly organized by the J&K Police and Shaheed Welfare Committee Kathua in the memory of Shaheed Dy. SP Manjeet Singh and others Brave Hearts of J&K Police, who have made supreme sacrifice by laying down their lives for the sake of nation.
SSP Kathua Pawan Parihar while talking to media said that as a precedent this event is being organized every year by Shaheed welfare society and Civil Society and in collaboration with J&K Police. "A total number of 32 teams from within and outside J&K State are participating in this championship, he said, adding, "this championship now has become one of the best sports event being organized in North zone in which national, international and Ranji Trophy players participate."
He said that the championship is played on knock out basis and is starting from January 11 and onwards.
He said that family members of the martyrs of J&K Police are special invitees on this occasion and are honoured.
"The inaugural match of the tournament shall be played on 11th of Jan and Rajesh Kumar, IPS Jammu Zone Jammu shall be Chief Guest on the occasion. The closing ceremony shall be held on 2nd week of February 2015 and K. Rajendra, Director General of Police, J&K shall be the Chief Guest on the occasion, he added.
Giving a backgrounder, SSP Kathua also said that this tournament was started in the year 2010-11 and has been an integral part of the Sports Calendar of J&K Police since then in District Kathua. The funds for the championship are being provided by PHQ J&K under Civic Action Programme and the sponsorsered by Chenab Textile Mill, Brick Kiln Association, Satyam Cements and TMT Saria, Stone Crusher Association, Industrial Unit Association, Kohinoor Rubbers, Jackson Industries.
SSP Kathua was accompanied by Adl SP Nasir Ahmed, Dysp Kuljeet Singh Kathua, Rakesh Singh Sumbria and Ravinder Singh Salthia from Shaheed Welfare Committee Kathua.
