Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 9: In violation of Jammu and Kashmir Regulation of Private Tuition Rules of 2010 and High Court directions, maximum private coaching centers have failed to get the required registration from the government.
Official sources told Early Times that Education department had made the registration of coaching centers mandatory in 2013 after an acid attack on a female teacher near a tuition center in Srinagar. Following the acid attack even the High Court had directed the Education department to register these coaching centers. "The department had issued an order asking all the private coaching centers to register themselves only a few people came forward and registered their centers. No action has been taken against the unregistered centers owing to callous approach of the department," sources maintained and disclosed department doesn't know the exact figures of private coaching centers in Jammu district. "Time to time the department had received many complaints from the people in general regarding the nuisance created by these centers and also about these fleecing the students, but department didn't bother to take action against them," they claimed. Sources said there are more than 1000 private coaching centers running in almost every nook and corner of Jammu district and violating the guidelines of education department. "Most private coaching centers in Jammu district are unregistered and lack required facilities," they claimed.
"Jammu has witnessed a mushroom growth of coaching institutions who are looting gullible students without providing proper facilities to them," they disclosed. When contacted to Director School Education, Choudhary Rashid Azam Inqablabi said, "We don't about the exact figures of coaching centers in the Jammu district. The department is implementing the directions of High Court," he added. He said that, if anyone center is found illegal, the department would take action as per law.
