Legal Metrology deptt books saffron traders for trade violations | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 9: Legal Metrology department today booked around one dozen traders for violating the Packaged Commodities rules. A penal sum of more than Rs. 7000 was imposed on the erring traders. In a statement, a spokesman of the department said that the field executives of Legal Metrology department under the supervision of Joint Controller conducted surprise inspection of different markets of Srinagar city and its outskirts. The spokesman said that the team booked about one dozen erring traders for violating packaged commodities rules. "The traders dealing in saffron at National Highway were found violating aforesaid laws. These traders were found to be selling pre-packed saffron in small packets without printing the mandatory decelerations on the label. The traders are required to print MRP, Date of Packing, Net Quantity and complete address with consumer grievance cell number on the label," said the spokesman. The spokesman said that in absence of these declarations, a consumer is not able to take a rational decision. He said a penal sum of Rs. 7700 was imposed on the spot against the erring dealers. |
