Bootlegger held alongwith 140 bottles of illicit liquor

Udhampur, Jan 9: Continuing its effort to put a check on drug peddlers and bootleggers, Police today seized one hundred forty bottles of illicit liquor with the arrest bootlegger from the Pancheri of Udhampur District.
"Based on a reliable sources, a Police Party of Police Station Panchari led by Inspector Sanjeev Sharma, SHO Police Station Panchari carried out checking of one TATA Mobil bearing Regd no: JK14B-9296 at Panchari Morh Naka on its way from Udhampur to Mogri, police sources said.
Sources said, "During search of vehicle police recovered 140 bottles of J&K Excise (Desi Whisky) from the possession of Mukash Kumar (Driver) of Kotla Panchari." They said the bootlegger was transporting these bottles in the said vehicle for illegal sale in his native village. "The accused was arrested on the spot while liquor was seized, they said, adding, "a case under section 48A Excise Act stands registered at Police Station Panchari while further investigation is on."
