| Popular programmes shifted, youth agitated over Rozgar Samachar | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 9: Once known for its high standard of programmes which were popular not only in Jammu region but across the border too, the standard of programmes of Radio Kashmir Jammu is not only falling but the work culture in the station is also deteriorating fast.
A look at the work culture of Radio Kashmir Jammu and it is revealed the present station director V.K Sambyal is being blamed by all the senior programmers of Radio Kashmir Jammu and the avid radio listeners including the youth for the deteriorating quality of programmes and also for its work culture.
The youth of Jammu region are up in arms against the stations director for shifting of "Rozgar Samachar" programme from early morning to day time. Started for the unemployed youth of Jammu region who want to have secure jobs, this programme entitled "Rozgar Samachar" used to be aired at 6.50 a.m. every day at Primary channel. The youth who would leave their homes after 7 a.m. mostly would get themselves apprised by the employment information provided in it. However, the station director changed the timing of the programme to1.30 p.m. in between the "Sainikon Ke Liye" programme.
"I don't think any youth would be at home at noon to listen to this programme as he or she is either out for jobs or study" said a youth leader adding that not only the purpose of running this employment generation progamme is defeated but the station director who has a background of music and does not have much information about programming or administrative is spoiling the entire station.
The insiders alleged that that as the work culture in on downslide, the office has turned into picnic and everyday in the evening, in the chambers of station director, turns are taken to thrown tea parties and snacks. The entire station is raising questions over the station director and his team of coteries allegedly sitting in the sun just outside the radio studios on any sunny days.
"The station director is not only happy to be in the company of chosen female staff but he also misuses his official vehicles to take these women officers to shopping in the daytime'" the insiders alleged adding that the sincere staff who want to focus on programmes and work for holding high the standards and ethics for which the Radio Kashmir Jammu was once known for, are feeling suffocated as their work is not being recognized.
"Those who are sycophants are being given recognition by the SD while rest are just being ignored," alleged a staffer adding that in a major move to sideline those whose programmes were quite popular, the station director took a very popular programme presented by a senior staffer entitled as "Apke Phone Aake Geet" and gave it to somebody else. The programme used to generate lot of calls from the audience who loved it a lot. Similarly another weekly programme which was based on film music entitled Shubhprabhat aired every Saturday was taken from a senior competent broadcaster as this person is considered not to be in the good books of the station SD director.
The avid listeners and the broadcasters of RKJ have now sought intervention of DG AIR in the matter so that the dignity of the programmes is restored at the earliest. |
