Teen dies in mysterious explosion; Distt Admn releases Rs 1.25 lakh as ex gratia

Rajouri, Jan 9: Panic has gripped in a remote village due to mysterious explosion which rocked a remote village Darhal of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir here today killing a teenager boy, police sources said.
Acting promptly district administration has released Rs 1.25 Lakh ex gratia in favour of the aggrieved family.
Sources said, "The deceased has been identified as 19 years old Mohd Manzoor s/o Shamas Din resident of Thanamang under the jurisdiction of Police Station Darhal."
"Immediately after the blast a police party headed by DSP, Surjeet Singh accompanied by Irfan Wani , SHO rushed to spot and cordoned the area and cordoned the area, sources said adding, "during preliminary inquiry it was revealed that the boy had gone to graze the goats and sheep in a nearby forest and had left the house at about 9 am."
"At about 10.30 pm when people heard a blast sound they rushed to spot and found the boy in a pool of blood, they said and added that the locals informed police which later shifted the body of teen to the Sub District Hospital for the post mortem.
They said that the boy in curiosity might have started fiddling with the grenade which exploded in his hands leaving his left hand and face were badly damaged in the explosion.
Meantime during search of the area police also recovered the pin of the grenade and during initial investigation it was established that such grenades were used by the militants during encounters with security forces. "The vilalge Thanamang was once in the grip of militants and several encounters had taken place in the area before 2007, police sources said.
Police has registered a case of murder against unidentified persons under sections 302/120-B/121/122/124-A RPC and 3-PSSA. SHO Irfan Wani said that the police have started the investigation in this matter. Meanwhile Jatinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner has directed concerned SDM to release Rs Rs 1.25 lac as ex-gratia relief in favor of the father of the deceased.
