Rajouri, Jan 9: The dilemma for the flood victims still is on as the flood victims of Darhal, Kalakot, Sunderbani, Nowshera, Rajouri,Manjakot etc tehsils have been holding protest for not getting proper relief including free ration for 6 months on the other hand flood affected in Thanamandi are alleging that the tehsil administration has not sent the factual report of the damages occurred to the houses during incessant rains during September 2014.
Flaying the local administration's report in regard to flood victims, some victims including Mohd Akbar and Mohd Ayub alleged that they got cheques of Rs 3800 and Rs2300 respectively for their completely damaged houses.
Pertinent to mention that to register their resentment these flood victims have held a protest at Thanamandi against tehsil and district administration alleging it for submitting biased report.
These victims have also appealed to the tehsil administration to send again the factual reports so that the real victims may get adequate compensation for the houses damaged in the floods/landslides followed by torrential rains in the month of September. the tehsil administration's reports virtually has created a divide within tehsil and the two groups of people are also accusing each other to get political gains on the reports already sent by the tehsil administration.
One group is supporting the report while other is demanding to re-verify the damages and send updated reports to higher authorities. Protesters alleged that the tehsil administration/Municipal Committee as well as district administration has failed to get repaired the civic set up in their localities. Protestors said flood victims have not been provided adequate relief by the administration and many among them either living in rented houses or in the buildings provided by the administration. They also alleged that huge relief money was sent by the Union government for the rehabilitation of the people but they didn';t get the actual amount shown in the reports. These people also demanded inquiry where the actual relief money has gone and apprised Ashwani Kumar, SDM , Thanamandi with their issues. After listening their grievances, the SDM Thanamandi assured the people to look into the matter.
