Udhampur, Feb 5 : One person was killed and forty seven others sustained injuries early this morning when a bus in which they were travelling in rolled down into deep gorge at Barta- Chanunta in Ramnagar of Udhampur District toady.
According to the police sources, ill-fated bus bearing Regd No: JK02D-3815 on its way from Chanunata to Udhampur at near Barta at about 09:45am when driver lost the control over the vehicle and it rolled down into deep gorge resulting into death of one person and injuries to other occupants.
"The deceased has been identified namely as Madhan Lal (41) son of Bali Ram of Barta, police sources said.
Sources added that on receiving the information the police and locals rushed to spots and started rescue operation and evacuated the injured persons to District Hospital (DH) Udhampur.
The injured hospitalized at District Hospital (DH) Udhampur, have been identified namely as bus driver Gopal Krishan (36) son of Ram Lal of Sar Manjla, ASI Ex. Sources said that doctors treating the injured have referred the Bus driver Gopal Krishan to GMC Jammu Hospital. Meanwhile injured persons undergoing medical treatment at PHC Chanunta have been identified namely as Bittu (14) son of Taru of Sar Manjla, Kuldep (35) son of Kappor, Ravi son of Gulha, Jashpul son of Krishan, Gopal son of Mangu Ram, and Tara Chand All of Chanunata.Udhampur Police have registered a case and further investigations are on. |
