'Seeds of Hope' exhibition comes to winter capital | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 5 : Members of Bharat Sokka Gakkai, Jammu Chapter today said that "Seeds of Hope" is a successor to the "Seeds of Change" exhibition which was created for the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2002 by Soka Gakkai International and Earth Charter International and won the 3rd Prize "Since been shown in 27 countries in 13 languages and seen by 1,500,000 people around the world, statement said adding, "Seeds of Hope: Visions of Sustainability, steps towards change' is not just another exhibition of photographic panels, it's different." The exhibition brings to light the message "It starts with one" --the slogan that The Earth Charter International have chosen for their "Earth Charter Plus 10" campaign in 2010. The exhibition is being brought to India through the joint efforts of the Bharat Soka Gakkai, the Indian arm of the SGI and Earth Charter International. After touring multiple cities like Ranchi , Bhopal , New Delhi , Meerut, Mumbai in India it now comes to Jammu . according to spokesperson the Bharat Soka Gakkai the organizer of the exhibition will be offering guided tours to groups of 40-50 students from various schools lasting 45 minutes, the tour will cover the exhibition and a video documentary "A Quiet Revolution ". "Around 50 Schools from Jammu have confirmed their student's attendance to the exhibition between 8th Feb to 13th Feb at Kala Kendra , Jammu when the exhibition will be open for all, the entry for the Exhibition is free, it said . Pertinently the "Seeds of Hope" exhibition stresses our interconnectedness with the rest of the community of life and the need to broaden our sphere of compassion and concern. It encourages viewers to overcome feelings of powerlessness and highlights the fact that a single individual can initiate positive change. Soka Gakkai International (SGI), a UN recognized NGO with over 12 million members in 192 countries and territories, working for peace through culture and education. Dr Daisaku Ikeda, the President of SGI International Submits peace proposals to the United Nations every year since 1983 with the aim of finding creative solutions to the world's problems like disarmament, human rights and the environment. The United Nations conferred The Peace Award in 1983 on Dr Ikeda recognizing his tireless and unflagging efforts for world peace. |
