Court denies bail to job racketeer | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 5 : Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Mr. RS Jain today rejected the bail application of one Babu Ram who had swindled lacs of rupees from innocent and poor people on the pretext of providing them jobs in Police department. According to the police case, the complainant submitted that in the year 2013 the accused Babu Singh alias Babu Ram met with the complainant and given an impression that he is/was serving in the office of DIG Udhampur Range which have another wing in the force where recruitment can be made of unemployed youth from outside the State on the pattern of central forces and further impression was given an impression that he was personal assistant to the DIG. The accused induced the complainants that he was the member of the selection committee and are short of eligible candidates for recruitment of constables in the department has to be prepared by him on the pattern of Central Government. That the accused assured the complainants to got the sons of the complainants recruited in the police department and demanded to pay an amount of Rs.6,65,000/ and Rs. 7.00 lacs respectively. Since the sons of the complainants who were unemployed and the recruitment is to be made in the centre police as the impression was given by the accused to make the payment with the assurance after making the payment as stated above the sons of the complainants would find place in the selection. On this police registered case. While rejecting the bail application, Principal Sessions Judge Jammu RS Jain observed that a number of victims have been cheated and the investigations conducted so far reveal that the cheated amount runs into about Rs.54 lakhs which amount is yet to be recovered. Hence, in this background, no indulgence can be granted to the applicant / accused Babu Ram and his bail application is hereby dismissed. (JNF) |
