Early Time Report

BARAMULLA (Uri), Feb 25: The Commander 12 Infantry Brigade has said that Pakistan Army has been repeatedly violating ceasefire pact since February 19 and targeting civilian population.
"Displaying extreme cowardice and unprofessionalism it has been targeting innocent villagers living along the borders, and it has been indiscriminately using mortar shelling causing damage to the houses of civilians", said Brigadier.
He said that in a befitting reply the Indian army has retaliated accurately with heavy fire on the Pakistani posts.
The Pakistani posts have targeted the border villages like Balkote, Silikote, Tilwara, Churanda, Hattlanga and its neighboring villages in Uri sector, the army commander said.
He also said that the villagers have been evacuated to the Government Higher Secondary School Uri, as the first responder on the ground; the army has swung into action and immediately provided the much required relief to the displaced villagers.
"Since the commencement of hostilities, the army has speedily extended medical facilities to the injured villagers; the local commanders on the ground are personally involved in monitoring all the safety measures", the army official said.
Meanwhile, Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq Khan on Sunday expressed concern over the growing tension on LoC between India and Pakistan and called for sustained dialogue to end hostility between the two countries.
The minister said this during his visit to Uri to assess the situation owing to shelling between the two countries on LoC that has forced many families to migrate.
The minister while taking to media said that the people of valley especially those living near the LoC were the worst victims of the hostility between the two neighboring countries India and Pakistan. He urged both the countries to end hostility for the sake of the human lives and start a sustainable dialogue to resolve pending issues.
He advocated for resumption of peace dialogue with Pakistan which, he said, was vital in order to seek an end to the suffering of the people of the State.
