Cracks in Coalition: Ram Madhav hits at Mehbooba, PDP launches counter attack
2/25/2018 11:56:03 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 25: Although Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has maintained a silence over statement of Ram Madhav, PDP's chief spokesman Rafi Ahmed Mir hit back at Madhav for 'undermining' status of J&K Chief Minister. A day after Ram Madhav made direct attack on Mehbooba Mufti for demanding talks with Pakistan, he was countered by Rafi Ahmed Mir.
"Talking or not talking to Pakistan is not for the Jammu and Kashmir alliance to decide, but the government of India. Mehboobaji can have a view, because she feels that if the two governments talk to each other, there could be de-escalation of violence. But the alliance cannot take a view, its view is limited to the affairs of the state", Ram Madhav said during an interview with a national daily. Ram Madhav this statement is direct attack on Mehbooba Mufti who is demanding unconditional dialogue with Pakistan.
Meanwhile, reacting to Ram Madhav's statement, Rafi Ahmad Mir has said that Ram Madhav is entitled is to his own view but who else will decide about people of J&K other than the Chief Minister.
Stating that valley has undergone odds of decades of violence which has rendered thousands of widows and innocent children orphans, it was the duty of the Chief Minister to talk of aspirations of the people and pursue it with the centre. He said that the life of people in Kashmir has become uncertain with incalculable damage to the psyche of the people who have been the worst sufferers of this violence.
He said people are the better judge and everyone has seen that the "muscular" policy of New Delhi hasn't solved anything so far , it was after the efforts of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that the centre was compelled for a policy shift and an interlocutor was appointed , general amnesty to the youth was granted". Mir also said that misreadings of those in power corridors of Delhi, never exactly know ,what the situation demands in valley , there is an urgent need required to have a lasting political process in Kashmir. More innocents will keep dying unless this happens.
