The injured cop was shifted to the hospital for treatment by the locals and other cops but he succumbed to his injuries. The militants after carrying out the deadly attack managed to escape from the scene. Although, the area was cordoned off by police and security forces after the militant attack, but no one was arrested.
Reports said that the militants after carrying out the attack managed to decamp with the self loading rifle (SLR) of the cop. The slain cop was a resident of Samba in Jammu division. He is survived by aged parents, wife and two sons.
