Will BJP wakeup to Army Chief's concern?
State Govt's pro-separatist policy draws flak
2/25/2018 11:56:19 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 25: The Army Chief General Bipin Rawat questioning the decision of the Jammu and Kashmir government to grant amnesty to first time stone-pelters indicates that Army is unhappy with the pro-separatist policies being followed by the J&K government.
When Jammu and Kashmir government announced amnesty for the stone-pelters, nationalist people reacted sharply. They had warned the PDP-BJP government of serious repercussions and had asked it to revisit its soft policy towards trouble mongers and terrorists.
It's in place to mention here that Army Chief said, "What goodwill are the stone pelters showing as the stone pelting on security forces in the Valley continues."
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that soft policy of the PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir towards stone-pelters and terrorists has backfired. "The J&K government needs to bear in mind that by appeasing separatists and Pakistan it's playing with the fire. Pakistan resorting to continuous ceasefire violations and pushing in more and more terrorists into the state should serve as an eye opener for the people who are advocating talks with Pakistan," he added.
A Kashmir watcher said, "It's unfortunate that J&K government registered a FIR against Army soldiers, who opened fire to save themselves from the stone pelters in Shopian. Such acts demoralize the soldiers, who are rendering invaluable sacrifices, to ensure that peace returns to Kashmir."
He said, "It's strange that PDP legislators sabotaged a resolution which was moved in the Assembly in the recently held session to condemn Pakistan for attacking the Indian soldiers and for repeated ceasefire violations on the borders."
An observer said, "BJP leaders who are a part of the J&K government are playing into the hands of its collation partner and have maintained silence over the pro-separatists and pro-terrorist agenda of their government."
He said that BJP leaders should see the writing on the wall and act before nationalist people come out on the streets to oppose their pro-appeasement policies. "It seems BJP leaders have even bartered the national interests for the sake of power. It's unfortunate that they believe that by opening their mouth their friends in Kashmir would get annoyed and they won't be able to seek favours from them," the observer added.
A defence analyst said, "Army Chief expressing his displeasure is a cause of concern for all the nationalist people. BJP leaders should wake up and make their presence felt by opposing the moves which are detrimental for the nation."
