Pak adds diplomacy to ceasefire violations
2/25/2018 11:35:24 PM
Against pure retaliation by the Indian troops to constant ceasefire violations by Pak forces it seems that Islamabad is playing diplomacy alongwith triggering border conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. During the last three months Pakustani troops have remained engaged I n violating ceasefire agreement when its troops pounded Indian border outposts and civilians houses. The scene witnessed on the International Border from Akhnoor to Kathua in Jammu sector is similary to the one experienced on the LoC. And contrary to Pakistan's claim about 60,000 civilians have fled to safer places right from Akhnoor to Kathua and R.S.Pura and Samba. It is nothing short of war going on the LOC and on the IB with two sides aiming to destroy the border infrastructure on either of the border. And whenever the Indian troops retaliate with strength, with mortars and long range guns Pakistan raises a hue and cry thereby inviting global interest in the fluid situation. On one hand Pakistan has given freedom to its troops to resort to frequent ceasefire violations and keep on bleeding India on the other hand the same Islamabad announces that peace could be restored to Kahsmir if the Kashmir issue is settled and that too in tgerms of the UN resolutions.
When one blames Pakistan to be following dual role by keeping the guns roaring and by playing diplomacy one is not wrong in the sense that Islamabad knocked the doors of various embassies in Pakistan when the Indian troops blasted number of border outposts of Pakistan in Uri sector in which several security personnel and militants were killed. And Pakistan displayed these slain militants as civilians to several defence attaches who were taken on a round of the LOC. Pakistan arranged a visit of defence attaches of six countries, including from four permanent members of the UN, to the Line of Control to brief them about "Indian atrocities". A Pakistan Army spokesman said in a statement that defence attaches of the US, the UK, France, China, Turkey and Indonesia visited the LoC in Rawalakot sector. "Defence attaches were briefed about Indian atrocities along Line of Control and deliberate targeting of civilians by the Indian Army," according to the statement. It said they also interacted with victims of ceasefire violations by India and "gained first-hand knowledge about their sufferings". Pakistan summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh here for the fourth time in a month to condemn "unprovoked firing" by Indian troops across the LoC.
The Pakistan Foreign Office alleged that Indian forces have carried out over 335 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the international border in 2018, resulting in the deaths of 15 civilians and injuries to 65 others.
The Foreign Office has claimed that Indian forces committed more than 1,970 ceasefire violations last year. What about the number of ceasefire violations committed by Pakistani troops during the last two years ? It is no longer a secret. India has given directions to its troops, guarding the LOC,and the BSF,deployed on the IB,to retaliate each and every ceasefire violations being committed by the Pakistani forces.Because Pakistani troops and the Rangers resort to ceasefire violations not only to blow up Indian border outposts or hit houses of border villagers but also to help groups of militants in crossing into Jammu and Kashmir. That has been the reason why several hundred militants have been brought on the launch pads across the LOC and across the IB. It is a simple way of pushing them into Jammu and Kahsmir while diverting the attention of Indian troops by opening fire on their outposts. And this strategy is being adopted to focus the issue of Kashmir on the global for a with the demand for mediation or intervention by either the UN or by the US but India has rejected the demand with full force.
