| People who live on the borders are really great and courageous as they have experienced three Wars with Pakistan in the past in 1965, 1971 and 1999. India fought another War but was with China in 1962 and it was fought far off from our Jammu territory.
In 1965 & 1971 Indo-Pak Wars ,Border People of Jammu, Samba and Kathua areas had shown the great courage and boldness in facing the challenges given by Pakistan in these wars.
Not only this, they faced the problems but they always supported the Armed forces in all the matters. All the times, Pakistan took fight with our forces on one pretext or the other and made attempts many a times and create panic in our front areas thereby demoralizing and damaging our brave People living just on the borders -IB/LOC as also in the radius of 5 Km Patti. These days Cease fire violations by Pakistan are routine of the everyday. This year Cease fire violations are on the peak. With these Ceasefire violations , the lives of the People on the IB and LOC have been made by Pakistan as meaningless and sleepless. During the last the last 3-4 days Pakistan is violating the cease fire in the Uri , Tangdhar , Boniyar areas causing massive damages to the property and killing the innocent Border People.
Not only this , almost it is a continuous headache for the District Administration and the Army of course. In these Cease fire violations , Pakistan always used heavy mortar fire and bombs shelling and caused big damages to the properties of the Border People. AEvery time, they were subjected to forced evacuation by the Administration from their centuries old ancestral lands, even then they had not made any hue and cry on this score. They are actually supplementing the Role of the Savior of our Borders i.e. Armed Forces in maintaining the calm and peace in the frontal areas in normal times. Over the years ,they have well maintained their houses on the Borders and other belongings thereby spending lot of money out of their own financial resources. They are our Aan -Ban aur Shaan and we are for them . Pertinent to mention here that 'Border' running between India and Pakistan is termed as International Border abbreviated as I.B. It demarcates the Indian States and the 4 Province of West Pakistan (W.P.) The International Border (IB) is running from the Line of Control (LOC) which separates our J&K and POK in the North to Wagah line, which partitioned the Indian Punjab State and Punjab Province of Pakistan in the East ward .
The Zero Point separates the Indian States of Gujarat & Rajasthan to Sindh Province of Pakistan in the Southward. Pakistan is not serious in maintaining the sanctity of the IB.
Since Independence of India and Pakistan , the IB remained a site of numerous conflicts and wars between both the countries. The total length of the I.B. is 2900 Kms. It is also one of the most dangerous Borders in the World. I.B. can be seen from the space in the night due to the 0.15 million Flood Lights installed by India on about 50000 Poles. Pakistan always disturbed the peaceful atmosphere on the Borders and made several Ceasefire violations. Making Ceasefire vViolations is a routine of the day. Pakistan off and on is doing on so. Civil Administration had identified the 5000 border tension affected families of Jammu, Samba and Kathua for granting of 5 marlas plots to each family for constructing their houses at the more safer places . It is very strange that this proposal which was settled almost has been cancelled and instead GOI has opted for building of concrete bunkers on the IB/LOC.
The proposal of providing 5 marlas plots at the safer places nearby to these families for building up of their house to live in is required to be reconsidered by the GOI at the earliest otherwise it will become a joke . Building of the bunkers on the IB/LOC is a step towards for taking the to deal with the emergency. It can't be understood as to what prompted the GOI to say goodbye to this important proposal for the ultimate benefit of the Border People . Since Border People don't have their own forum to project the demands in the right earnest , that is why they are being sidelined and allowed to suffer more and more without any fault of theirs. This the foolishness of the State and Central Governments.
Border People- They are the people whose incomes are always at stake as they won't be able to sow any crop on the Agricultural land which they own and fall just on the borders i.e. fall in 5 kms patti. Neither they get any return from their land in question nor they get any compensation from the State or the Central Government for the reasons best known to them. Time and again they cry for the compensation on this score , both the governments deny them the same out rightly resulting which they face many hardships in passing their lives in prevailin situation of high inflation. Not only this , since no other potential of anything is there in the ares of IB / LOC they remain helpless in earning and supplement their incomes . KARGIL WAR - 1999 was the last war was fought at Kargil in 1999, our then Prime Minister AtalBehhari Vajpayee was having a dialogue with Pakistan's PM Nawaz Shrief at Lahore. At that time , General Musharaf hatched a conspiracy against India and attacked Kargil region of our Country .Pakistan Army made numerous intrusions at several places in our territory and not only this they made the concrete Bunkers also. Indian Armed Forces gave them the befitting reply and repulsed them back and got vacated our territory from them after a severe battle. After some time, normalcy prevailed in the Borders but Pakistan remained extra busy in sending the Militants across the IB /LOC. Needless to mention here that the fruits of freedom are being enjoyed by the urban population residing in the big cities as also in the Metros but the height of the thing is that people living in the far flung/ remote and also living just on the IB/LOC are being deprived of the same .If you talk of the paying of the indirect taxes to the National and the State Governments, they are paying the taxes equally to the exchequer but the fruits are being denied to them always. When you talk of the sacrifices , Border People are paying much as compared to the urban people across the country and their contribution is negligible. They have been always discouraged in the past on one pretext or the other . No financial support was provided to them . During the disturbed atmosphere on the I.B. /LOC, they are just shifted to the safer places as empty hands and are served with inadequate supplies of ration materials blankets and tents in the openareasof the land . Therefore need of the hour is to encourage them with providing of adequate help in cash and kind suitably in order to . overcome their difficulties well in time for passing their lives in Emergency. |
