Indian troops favour tit-for-tat strategy | | | Even after strong retaliation by the Indian troops in Uri sector in which Pakistan lost several soldiers and militants the Army across the LoC is trying to retain its fire power simply to push groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir for hiking the level of violence which could give a chance to Islamabad to rake up the Kashmir issue. And the misadventure from Pakistani Army continues which violated the ceasefire and resorted to shelling on forward posts and civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistani Army initiated an unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics weapons and mortar bombs from 0850 hours on Tuesday in the Bhimbher Gali (BG) sector along the LoC (in Poonch district). The Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively. The Pakistani troops also resorted to shelling of mortars along the LoC in the Tarkundi Gali, Lambi Bari, Khorinar, Dhar and Panjgrian areas of the Manjakote sector in Rajouri since morning. Whether in Poonch or Rajouri the Indian troops could do nothing except that they retaliated these violations with strength and with fury. The Indian troops had expected that Pakistani troops may stop resorting to ceasefire violations after its troops and groups of militants were eliminated in the recent retaliation in Uri sector where for the first time the Indian troops used artillery guns to demolish Pak border outposts and militant bases. After the Army claimed it had punished Pakistan for its misadventures in Uri, Commander of Srinagar-based strategic 15 Corps Lt Gen AK Bhatt has said the forces did not want to open up the entire front along the Line of Control in Kashmir. The statement from the top commander in Kashmir comes days after artillery shells were used for the first time in Uri after the 2003 ceasefire pact to "punish Pakistan for its misadventures and for aiding and abetting infiltration". The heavy shelling triggered panic among the border resident villages have also not vacated completely. The Pakistan Army on Tuesday violated the ceasefire and resorted to shelling on forward posts and civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir. In fact senior functionaries of the Indian Army believe the conflict and exchange of fire on the border is a limited affair and India is not in favour of opening the entire border for which the Indian troops may be blamed for launching an attack on Pakistan. It is simply tit-for-tat affair on the LoC and on the IB. The Pakistan Army initiated an unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortar bombs from 0850 hours on Tuesday in the Bhimbher Gali (BG) sector along the LoC (in Poonch district). The Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively The Pakistani troops also resorted to shelling of mortars along the LoC in the Tarkundi Gali, Lambi Bari, Khorinar, Dhar and Panjgrian areas of the Manjakote sector in Rajouri since morning, India is very conscious of the safety of the people on this side of the border. The General said one of the reasons for the firing along the LoC was that Pakistan wanted to push militants to this side. If Gen. Bhatt is any guide Pakistan's mischief has been exposed. Pakistani troops resort to unprovoked ceasefire violations simply to push groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir. In fact Pakistani agencies including the Army depend on the infiltrators for derailing peace and for heightening political instability which allows Pakistan a chance to secure either the UN or the US mediation or intervention for forcing India to resume talks. But under these circumstances when Pakistani troops are on the offensive how could India resume the process of dialogue. Still the Foreign secretary of India and Pakistan plan to have the process of talks opened in a third country. Let one see its results. |
