BJP top brass reprimands state unit for 'mishandling' Kathua incident | Leaders asked to meet aggrieved families, get case transferred to CBI | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 28: The issue of migration of the members of a particular community in Hiranagar reportedly figured in the meeting of the top BJP leaders called by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also the party president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday. According to the sources a top BJP leader who attended the meeting was directed to make all out efforts to restore the faith of people in Jammu region as the things are slipping out of the hands. "If steps are not taken to restore the confidence of the people it can damage the party's cause in forthcoming parliamentary and assembly polls," the BJP top brass reportedly told the saffron party leaders from Jammu. The sources said the Jammu leaders were also asked to approach the Home Minster to see how the Kathua case can be transferred to the CBI as people are way of the investigations being carried out by the Crime Branch. "The BJP leaders were also asked to see how to approach the case and file a petition for the same, and take up the issue with the Chief Minister too," sources added. "There was also a suggestion that top government functionaries including the top politicians should visit the area and meet the aggrieved families," said the sources. The sources said the BJP leaders were also taken to the task on the failure of the state leadership to handle the issue in an effective manner and more so when the MLAs of the region from the party and even the top police leadership is from the Jammu region. "A perception of BJP failing should not go around which ironically has been slowly building up. If it gains traction than opposition can corner us and we can't afford such a situation," sources said. |
