Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Mar 23: A week after police claimed to have solved the murder of a leading Kishtwar hotelier Ishtiaq Ahmed Dar, the victim's family has rejected the police version and demanded a probe by the Crime Branch of police.
Ishtiaq, according to the police, was killed by one Muzzafer Hussain Kamal of Kamal Mohalla Kishtwar, who is a stationery shopkeeper. Kamal is tenant of the deceased in his New Dar Complex near Jamia Masjid Kishtwar. Police claimed that Ishtiaq had illicit relationship with the Kamal's wife and that is why Kamal had murdered him.
But Ishtiaq's father on Friday rejected the police claims and demanded handing the case to Crime Branch for ascertaining the reason behind the killing of his 48-year-old son.
Speaking to Early Times, Ishtiaq's father Ghulam Rasool Dar said the police claims are "fabricated, malicious and amid to tarnish the image of his deceased son as well as of the family." He said that Kamal's wife is a pious woman, and out rightedly rejected the police claims.
He also said that the wife of the accused is like a granddaughter to him and a daughter to the deceased. He said daughters of the deceased and the accused are of same age and are classmates. He said he and his entire family don't believe police version and added that they don't want any innocent to be framed for the murder of his son.
"I want justice for my deceased son. At the same time I don't want any innocent to be framed in the case," said Ghulam Rasool. He said that police has failed to dig into the real motive behind his son's murder.
Meanwhile, the people living in and around the house of the accuse told the Early Times that they never saw Ishtiaq visiting the house of the accused. They said the wife of the accused is always in purdah and her face is never open. They also refused to buy the police version and called for reinvestigation of the case.
Police claims the accused had used a pistol to kill Ishtiaq as the latter had illicit relations with his wife.
