Dukhtaran-e-Millat sends security agencies into tizzy, hosts Pakistan Day function
Jehangir Rashid 3/24/2018 11:54:54 AM

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Mar 23: Banned separatist outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) today sent the Jammu & Kashmir Police and other security agencies into a tizzy as it organized a function on the occasion of Pakistan Day.
It has been learnt from sources that the function was held in the Soura area and most probably at the residence of DeM Patron Syeda Asiya Andrabi. It is not for the first time that such a function has been hosted or organized by DeM. In the past such functions were organized on the occasion of Pakistan Day (March 23) and Independence Day of Pakistan on August 14.
Today's function started with the playing of national anthem of Pakistan. The Dukhtaran activists sang the Pakistani national anthem while waving the Pakistani flags. The Dukhtaran activists without giving any damn to the security apparatus raised slogans in favour of Pakistan. Some of the activists raised anti-India slogans on this occasion as well.
The photos as well as video of the function went viral on social networking sites and many people commented over the same. It was only after the circulation of photos and video that security agencies got to know about the function. Following this a case was registered by Jammu & Kashmir Police.
Virtually adding insult to the injury a spokesperson of DeM in a statement claimed that many functions were organized in the different districts of the state to mark the Pakistan day. However, the spokesperson did not upload any photos or video with regard to the functions held other than the function held at Soura.
A police spokesman said that it has come to the notice of the police about certain unlawful acts of DeM outfit through social media videos and other reliable sources where they have indulged in acts inviting penal provisions for offences under various sections of Prevention of Unlawful Activities (UA) (P) Act.
"They have also raised anti-national slogans and have given hate/provocative speech thereby inviting charges under various sections of penal code. Police has taken cognizance into the matter and a case has been registered in this regard at police station Soura and investigation set into motion," said a police spokesman.
It would be in place to mention here that DeM is an entity of Hurriyat Conference (Geelani). The organization believes that merger of Jammu & Kashmir with Pakistan is the only solution to Kashmir issue. The outfit more so it's patron has not hesitated to take on separatist leaders like Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik in the past.
Andrabi had recently castigated the separatist leadership over the strike calls saying that separatists should devise some other mechanism to carry forward the "ongoing movement". She has been leading a campaign against Valentine's Day in Kashmir and as part of the same she has been raiding the restaurants in the summer capital of the state.
Dukhtaran-e-Millat has been on the radar of different security and intelligence agencies for a long time now. It has been referred to as one of the banned separatist organizations of Jammu & Kashmir. Andrabi's husband Mohammad Qasim Faktoo is languishing in the jail for the past 25 years since he was a militant and associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad. Faktoo nowadays heads the Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM).
