3/23/2018 11:19:31 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 23: Residents of Nowshera have rejected the government's order for the appointment of separate Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and said they will continue their struggle for district status.
"Immediately the government order was released in the late evening hours, a meeting of Joint Action Committee was held and all the members categorically decided to reject the government order and decided to continue their struggle for the district status" said Jagdish Raj, member JAC and President Sanatan Dharam Sabha.
People took out a protest rally in the town and criticized the state government for befooling the people of Nowshera by upgrading the post of ADM to ADC.
"We have been demanding district status for the last 35 days. We will not accept less than ADDC with SDM post at Nowshera till the decision for the creation of District was not taken" said protesters.
They raised slogans against Chief Minister, state government and alleged the government wants violation in the area and for it had played with the sentiments of the people by announcing separate ADC post which was earlier rejected by the people of the area (rotational ADC for Nowshera and Sunderbani).
The people have also warned the district administration / state government not to go for open the offices in Nowshera and other areas otherwise for any loss to property government would be responsible
Meanwhile Ashwani Kumar, President Sanatan Dharam Sabha and Yog Raj Sharma, member JAC, Sunderbani and Bhusan Uppal, member JAC, Kalakote have welcomed the appointment of ADCs and said it was the long pending demand of the people of these tehsils.
They also appealed to the government to appoint a Commission so that the home work can be done for the creation of separate district including Nowshera, Kalakote and Sunderbani tehsils.
Today late in the evening state government vide its order No.499-GAD of 2018 dt 23/3/18 and in partial modification of its earlier order No.412-GAD dt9/3/18 (in which rotational ADC post was created for Nowshera-Sunderbani), has upgraded the post of Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) as Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADCs) for Nowshera and Sunderbani.
The present SDMs at these places shall hold the charge of posts of ADCs till regular arrangements are made. Immediately after the announcement of rotational ADC for Kotranka-Kalakote, the people of Kalakote were also on strike demanding separate ADC post for them. The government vide its order No. 500-GAD dt 23/3/18 has also upgraded the post of SDM to ADC for Kalakote with immediate effect.
