NABARD organizes awareness programme for farmers at Sudhmahadev

Udhampur, Apr 1: NABARD, Udhampur organized an awareness programme for farmers at Sudhmahadev on Saturday.
The programme was conducted by Manohar Lal, DDM, NABARD, and attended by Branch Manager, J&K Bank, Sudhmahadev, Vivek Shahi, Project Manager, Actech Agro Pvt. Ltd., Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman, SVPCL, representative form Department of Agriculture and farmers of the area. The programme was part of Business Strategy Meet conducted for Sudhmahadev Vegetable Producer Company Pvt. Ltd. (SVPCL).
It is a Farmers Producer Company promoted by NABARD through Actech Agro pvt. Ltd. SVPCL has 201 shareholder farmers. The objective of the company is to increase bargaining power of farmers by bringing them to one platform.
It also aims at enabling the farmers to sell their produce directly in the market through Farmers Producer Company. The company procures agriculture inputs at cheaper rates from the companies directly by bargaining with them and sells them to the farmers of the area at cheaper rates than the market. Agriculture tool, one Iron Angle Rack each was given free of cost to all the farmers present on the occasion and the same would also be given to all the shareholder farmers of the SVPCL.
The farmers were explained in detail about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna. They were informed that crop insurance under PMFBY is compulsory for all the farmers who have availed crop loans through KCC and optional for farmers who have not availed such loans. They were also informed that only Maize and Paddy crops are being covered under the PMFBY in this area.
