JAC disown Behl's statement on struggle for district status of Nowshera
4/1/2018 10:52:50 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, Apr 1: Joint Action Committee (JAC) in a meeting held today evening has resented police raids to arrest the people associated with Nowshera struggle (indefinite strike) for district status.
They said that state government has now resolved to harass the people of Nowshera --who through peaceful manners have continued their indefinite strike peacefully for the last 45 days-- by conducting raids to arrest the people leading the agitation.
In a bizarre development today, Davinder Singh Behal --a Hurriyat leader whose parental house at Nowshera was raided by the NIA team in July, 2017-in a meeting of few youths have exhorted them to organize 'Kotli-Mirpur Chalo' (in PoK) protest as the state government has not paid any attention towards their demand of district status for the last more than a month.
This action of Behl has created chaos among the people of Nowshera and even in a meeting of the JAC all the members and people of Nowshera have disowned Behl's statement. Reliable sources said after Behl's meeting local police have raided the houses of some youth who were present in Behl's meeting.
Subhash Kapoor, president JAC, Nowshera has categorically warned the police not to arrest any youth if the raids are conducted after Behl's statement.
"Behl is associated with Hurriyat Conference and people of Nowshera are Nationalist. Why the intelligence agencies and police were observing silence when he had entered the Nowshera town" said Kapoor.
Even Behal has openly challenged the police to dare to arrest him, why the police harassing peaceful youth, added Kapoor. He categorically warned the police not to indulge in such pressure tactics to harass the peaceful people of Nowshera on the behest of higher authorities.
After the arrest of any youth, the whole town will enter the police station and it would be very difficult for the local administration to control the situation. Kapoor further said the peaceful indefinite strike will continue till we achieve our goal and appealed to the state government to come forward and resolve the stalemate in peacefully.
