After abandoning Mookerjee, BJP attacks his followers
Ulta Chor Kotwal Ko Dante

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 1: The BJP has, it seems, lost its way. It has started saying things which hurt it where they hurt it the most. The Panthers Party had been accusing the BJP of forgetting Syama Prasad Mookerjee and bartering his ideology to grab what the people in Jammu call "sham power" in March 2015.
It had been urging the BJP to tread the path Mookerjee charted for it in 1952-53 by laying down his life in Kashmir in June 1953 while fighting for the national cause in the state and seeking its complete integration into India by opposing Article 370 and fighting for the people of Jammu and Ladakh.
Article 370 gives a separate status to J&K on the ground of religion. It has given unbridled legislative and executive powers to the Kashmir's ruling class and reduced Jammu and Ladakh to the status of Kashmir's colonies.
It has also created a situation which gives an opportunity to the enemies of India to say Jammu & Kashmir is a disputed territory as it has a separate constitution and separate flag.
So much so, its critics say that Article 370 has created "a separate republic within the republic of India where the non-Muslim minorities have no right to lead a dignified life and where the majority community plays all the shots and dictates terms with New Delhi concluding truce after truce with Kashmiri leadership over the heads of Jammu and Ladakh".
On Saturday, a BJP leader lambasted the Panthers Party and similar other smaller political groups without naming them. He said that those who opposed Mookerjee were now invoking Mookerjee to hit the BJP.
Denouncing the Panthers Party and similar other smaller political groups in Jammu who invoke Mookerjee on a daily basis to ridicule the BJP, the BJP leader asked the opposition to join hands with his party in taking the legacy of Jana Sangh leader forward if they were really impressed by his ideologies.
"We welcome everybody, who owns Dr Mookerjee as their leader, as he does not belong to BJP only but gave the supreme sacrifice for the national cause as he was the leader of entire nation," the BJP leader said, adding that "after remaining out of power for years the opposition parties have realized the importance of Dr Mookerjee" and "we welcome their change of heart".
"If we could not do anything in three years of our rule to carry forward his legacy, let them come forward and carry forward his mission," he further said.
Ironically, it is the BJP which has been at the helm of affairs at the centre since 2014 and part of the J&K Government since March 2015. It is for the BJP to implement what Mookerjee stood for, fought for and sacrificed his life for. But it will not do that; it will only condemn the parties like the Panthers Party, despite the fact that it abandoned Mookerjee decades ago to fulfill its lust for power. Just read the PDP-BJP agenda of alliance and one would find that the BJP only ditched Mookerjee for power.
