Jammu, Apr 2: The officers of Jammu and Kashmir police, who have been appointed in armed wing, are enjoying double benefits, wherein they are getting timely promotions in addition to the executive authority.
According to sources, many officers of armed wing have occupied the post of executive cadre by using their influence.
"The posts which were meant purely for the executive officers have been occupied by the officers of armed wing," said sources, adding that now they are enjoying timely promotions, which is otherwise stagnant in executive wing and have also occupied their positions.
The sources said that the mess of inter-wing attachments have hollowed working of the department so much so that the Director General of Police (DGP) had to take cognizance of the matter.
"One can gauge the quantum of damage inter-wing attachments have caused to the functioning of the police department that many senior officers of executive wing are still waiting their promotion, while as their batch mates in armed wing have attained promotions," said sources, adding that in addition to promotions, the officers of armed wing have also occupied posts of executive wing, thus making executive officers irrelevant.
