JAMMU, Apr 2: A Superintendent of an examination centre in Degree college Billawar has been accused of facilitating copying in his centre and entering into verbal brawl with invigilation staff when they objected to his misdeed.
Angered over inaction on part of college administration over the issue, the faculty members of GDC Billwar today submitted a memorandum to College Principal, seeking immediate action.
As per the application forwarded by all contractual faculty members of GDC Billawar, it has been maintained that Pankaj Kumar working as Lecturer in Zoology, who was performing duty of Supervisor on 31st of March during morning session in the biannual examination of BA Part-III, caught a student while cheating during the exam. When he brought the matter into the notice of the Superintendent, he rather than taking action against the erring candidate, joined him in rebuking the supervisor.
The letter signed by 22 contractual faculty members of the GDC Billawar warned the college administration that they would boycott all examination duties if necessary action was not taken. "Kindly sort out the issue, which lowers the credibility, self-respect and morale of faculty members", the letter concludes.
Sources informed Early Times that the candidate who was caught copying in the examination hall by Supervisor was an in-service candidate, who was copying under the patronage of College administration.
Principal of GDC Billawar, Prof. Suresh Kumar said that he had summoned the Superintendent as well as Supervisor and sorted out the matter amicably. On being asked why action was not taken against the candidate caught copying, he said "Exam was held on Satruday and when no objection was raised on that day, it was presumed that everything was okay". |
