| Ration dealer held with charas, poopy straw | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Apr 2: District Rajouri police claimed to have recovered drug consignment from a government ration store situated in Pargal village under the jurisdiction of Darhal police station.
The raid in the store was conducted after specific inputs by a team from Darhal police station headed by Habib Pathan, SHO under the supervision of Iftikar Ahmed, Thanamandi, SDPO, said SSP, Yougal Manhas.
During search police recovered 805 grams of Charas and 710 grams of Poppy straw and after the recovery police also arrested Mohd Sharief s/o Roshan Din who was present in the store and father of Altaf Ahmed license holder of the ration store said a senior police officer.
The accused has been booked by the police under sections 8/15/20 NDPS Act (FIT18/2018) and has also started investigation to find since when the accused was in this trade and who were his local contacts either for network or for the consumption of the drugs.
Javaid Ahmed, Assistant Director (AD), FCS&CA while talking to The Early Times said that the arrested person namely Mohd Sharief is not license holder of the ration depot but the license was issued in favour of his son Altaf Ahmed.
"Immediately after police action, the department has seized 27 Quintal of Rice, 2.5 Quintals of Sugar and 3.5 Quintals of Wheat and has sealed the depot.
The license was also temporarily suspended and inquiry was also initiated to investigate the role of license holder in drug nexus.
If he was also found involved during police investigation, the license will be cancelled" said AD, FCS&CA.
For the last few months district Rajouri police have expedite action against the drug peddlers and drug abusers and has sent many among them in judicial lock up after orders by the executive magistrates and administration has also slapped PSA against few. |
