7/30/2018 11:36:21 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 30: A delegation of College Teachers Association (CTA) led by the President Prof. DS Manhas today met Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, the Advisor (G) to Governor, J&K State, to discuss various issues regarding college fraternity.
CTA raised the demand of implementation of UGC Guidelines which includes enhancing the age of superannuation of college teachers to 62 years at par with the state universities and creation of post of professors in colleges, pay anomaly in implementing 6th pay commission, advance increment for Ph.D/ M.Phil. and other higher qualifications in favour of college teachers.
In order to address the situation arising out of the shortage of teachers in colleges at national level, the union HRD Minister has enhanced the age of superannuation to 65 years for college and university teachers and the state govt. has enhanced the age of superannuation of teachers of state universities(Jammu/Kashmir Universities, SKUAST-J and SKUAST-K) and medical colleges to 62 years while as the age of superannuation of college teachers is still at 60 years although as per the UGC guidelines, the age of superannuation of college teachers as well as university teachers should be same.
CTA stated that as per UGC guidelines Associate professors have to be promoted as Professors in the colleges, but so far no headway has been made in this direction.
There is an immediate need for creation of post of professors in colleges, which will enhance the academic and research environment in the colleges.
The college teachers whose increment was due from February to June 2006 have been deprived from such increment whereas all other state govt. employees as well as central govt. employees have got the same. CTA demanded that this increment be granted to college teachers.
CTA further stated that as per the UGC regulations 2018, advance increment for Ph.D/M.Phil. has been restored in favour of college teachers and the association demanded that notification in this regard may be issued by the Higher Education Department.
The Advisor gave a patient hearing and discussed about all the demands in detail including enhancement of age of superannuation of college teachers, creation of post of professors and other demands and forwarded the same to appropriate authorities for necessary action.
The delegation included Dr. Anil Ganjoo(Gen. Secy.), Dr. Twinkle Suri (Vice President), Dr. Jagjeet Singh (Joint Treasurer), Prof. Rakesh Sharma (Joint Secy.), Dr. Sandhya Bhardwaj, Dr. Davinder Kour (Executive Members).
