Early Times Report

Jammu, July 30: Despite government claims regarding commencement of Smart Classes in government schools of state making teaching more effective and interesting for the students but years approved schools in district Doda exposed all claims, out of 53, only two schools have internet facilities so far.
Reliable sources in School Education department informed Early Times that through Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Scheme in the year 2015, Union government had approved ten schools.
However, state government has established infrastructure in all these schools but surprising out of ten only GHSS (Boys) Doda and Bhaderwah have internet facilities. "Central Government again approved ten schools in 2016 for same district and also sanctioned funds for infrastructure but lackadaisical approach of authority concerned infrastructure for smart classes yet not completed", sources said, adding that in 2017 through the scheme Ministry of Human Resources and Development approved 33 schools for district Doda but interesting the authority concerned yet not created building infrastructure for the schools.
Sources further said that each school, government has provided funds for Smart Board, Projector, UPS, nine computers and other computer labs related infrastructure. With an aim to provide such facilities to these schools to connect students with other parts of the country and visualize seminars and other education related programmes. It was suggested that this system will open a new window of knowledge for the students especially from the remote and far flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir. All these schools have also been allotted a UDISE Code. But the purpose has not been accomplished so far reason best known to higher authority.
To run the smart classes in these schools, the government has conducted 5-day interactive teachers training in Smart Class technology. The objective of establishing Smart Classrooms is to provide education through audio visual methods in composed environment to sustain the interest of students. The smart classroom is a proven mechanism which helps in quality enrichment through technological intervention but without internet facilities how it is possible to connect the student of these schools to other parts of country or within district or state. Director School Education Jammu, Rakesh Kumar Srangal was not available for comments.
