JAMMU, Oct 5: In pursuance of objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission launched as a national movement on October 2, 2014, the Jammu Regional Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) organized 'Swachhta Camp' at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Miran Sahib, RS Pura today. The camp was organized as a part of initiative of Village Adoption Scheme under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.
There are several Learner Support Centres under RC Jammu in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts which have adopted certain villages in their respective areas.
A number of activities like health counselling, medical awareness camps, free medical check-up camps, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan, Skill development education, promotion of Art & Craft, etc are being carried out in these adopted villages from time to time.
The camp was organized with the help of Learner Support Centre at Slehar, 1287D. A number of students of the Learner Support Centre as well as Government Girls Higher Secondary School participated in the camp.
A poster drawing competition was also organized on the occasion in which five best posters were selected and the students were felicitated with trophies. |
