MLAs join agitating officials, knock Guv's door

Jammu, Oct 5: Extending their support to employees of Planning and Development who are opposing merger of their department with Finance department, several lawmakers have sought Governor's intervention into the matters.
The legislators-Congress MLA from Inderwal G M Saroori and NC MLA from Mendhar Javid Ahmed Rana-in their letter to Governor Satya Pal Malik have sought revocation of order No: 407-FD of 2018, dated 20-09-2018.
"This is regarding the recent State Advisory Council's decision No.90/13/2018, 18th of September 2018 and consequent orderNo.407- FD of 2018, Dated 20-09-2018 issued by the Finance department, the contents of which are ambiguous besides the control of MK Economics & Statistics Cadre has been shown given to the Finance department in the order dated 20-09-2018", the MLAs have written in the letter.
They said that the Planning department since its inception has been instrumental in helping state to achieve sustainable development and their role has been acknowledged by all the previous government legislators/legislators / bureaucrats.
"The department flourished to a great extent both vertically and horizontally and at present the strength of the department as 3272 including 443 gazetted, 2322 non-Gazetted and 507 ministerial staff. The cadre personnel's are discharging assigned duties like formulation of plan, CDF /MPLADS, Revised estimates, Assembly questions, DDB meetings, Physical verifications, evolution studies, publication like digest of statics and economics survey reports", the two legislators said.
They further said that several other assignments have been given to the department, and same are being discharged effectively and efficiently. "In the above backdrop, it is requested that said be revoked immediately so that these hardworking capable lot of personals could get back to their jobs, calling of their pen down strike and once again the smooth functioning of the office works in various departments is ensured", they added.
