Director FCS&CA re-activates Petrol Pumps Joint Inspection Squads

Jammu, Oct 5: Amit Sharma, Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Jammu today chaired a meeting in which a major decision regarding revival or re-activation of Petrol Pump Joint Inspection Squads was taken in the presence of officers of major oil companies, traffic police, crime branch and legal metrology officers. Earlier, such Squads were functioning but off-late, this activity had almost come to a standstill here.
During the Meeting, Director FCS&CA Amit Sharma informed that the department has a prime responsibility in its capacity as a custodian of Consumer Rights and accordingly, an Action Plan was discussed and finalized relating to implementation of High Court's directions regarding checking and inspection of Petrol Pumps of the state for ensuring purity and stoppage of all kinds of adulteration in this sector.
Accordingly, Directorate FCS&CA Jammu today organised a detailed meeting with Oil Companies led by HPCL Coordinator DGM Retail, Krishan Lal, Additional SP Traffic Prabhu Dayal Sharma, DySP Crime Branch Nihar Ranjan, Joint Controller Legal Metrology V.K Sambyal and Deputy Director Supplies FCS&CA Joginder Jasrotia.
As per brainstorming sessions held in the meeting lead by Director FCS&CA Amit Sharma alongwith various stakeholders, a consensus was arrived at regarding creation of a whatsapp Group of all stakeholders for live monitoring and coordination of these Joint Inspection Drives alongwith three Mobile Testing Land of Oil Companies, Creation and Re-activation of Monthly Roster of Officers of different departments for the Regular Daily Drives, Conduct of Surprise and Routine Inspection of Petrol Pumps located across all length and breath of all ten districts of Jammu Division.
It was also decided that the 24x7x365 grievance redressal contact numbers of various Oil Companies, FCS&CA Department, Legal Metrology Department, Crime Branch shall be widely circulated and Director FCS&CA assured that lot of checks and balances shall be put into place in the coming days to ensure total purity, transparency and functioning of Petrol Pumps in entire Jammu Division.
