JKSAC holds meeting, discusses problems of DPs | | | Early Times Report rajouri, Oct 5: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) held a meeting of Displaced Persons (DPs) of 1947 from Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK) at Tanwal with the collaboration of its Tehsil Rajouri unit. The meeting took stock of the problems being faced by DPs particularly with regard to getting the PM relief package of Rs 5.5 lakh per family. The participant in the meeting from all adjoining villages expressed their strong resentment for not including the 5300 DPs families of 1947 from PoK in the instant package for relief besides other issues vis-à-vis slow disbursement of package, beneficiaries who could not receive the payment till date despite of clearance of objections raised so many times, non-inclusion of DPs families due to non-availability of records, compensation for left-out families having deficiency in land allotment. While addressing the meeting Gurdev Singh, president assured the participants that JKSAC is well aware of the issue and have already taken it up with the concerned authorities and are committed to resolve the same. He further strongly condemned the state government for misleading the High Court as well as central government in respect of 5300 families of 1947 from PoK settled outside the state who have been denied the relief package on the ground that they have failed to register themselves with PRO Jammu and settled outside and are not entitled to relief under article 370 / Article 35-A of 1954 of constitution of India. |
