10/5/2018 10:50:17 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 5: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh asked police personnel to be proactive to foil "designs" of Pakistan and put an end to militancy in Kashmir Valley at the earliest.
On a visit to Udhampur and Reasi districts, the police chief interacted with police personnel and directed them to eliminate the "residual militancy" as early as possible in Kashmir.
The DGP also reviewed security situation in several meetings, which were also attended by officers of Army, CRPF and CISF.
Singh said, "Pakistan wants to keep the pot boiling and is continuously fomenting trouble in the state. We have to foil its designs and should not allow it to succeed for which you have to be proactive."
During his interaction with officers, the DGP said that it was his aim to visit all districts of the state and assess the situation first-hand. He said that Udhampur and Reasi are free of militancy because of collective efforts of all forces and the cooperation of general public.
The DGP also asked the force to crack down on drug peddlers.
Highlighting the sacrifices of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the welfare measures undertaken by it, Singh said that the force has earned a name for itself in the country after great sacrifices. He thanked the central and state governments for announcing various welfare measures for the welfare of police personnel and their families.
The DGP impressed upon the personnel to be prepared for the upcoming urban local body and panchayat elections.
He said that guest houses will be constructed in District Police Lines for NGOs and hostel accommodation will be provided to the wards of police personnel in Jammu and Srinagar who are preparing for competitive exams.
