Kishtwar exhibits its true colour Dargah offers refuge for families from UP, Rajasthan | | | Asif Iqbal Naik KISHTWAR, Aug 16: Even though reports following tragic incidents of August 9 paint Kishtwar as a bitterly polarized society, the town has exhibited its true colours of harmony yet again by hosting two families from Rajasthan and UP in a Dargah after they were trapped in curfew restrictions following incidents on Eid. Families of Irshad Ahmed, a Muslim from Saranpur of UP and Kallu, a Hindu hailing from Jaipur of Rajasthan who were in Kishtwar on the fateful day for selling their goods at Gulabgarh Padder. It was a day before Eid when Irshad Ahmed and Kallu along with their families shifted to Kishtwar and established their vend at Chowghan ground Kishtwar outside the venue of Eid prayers. As soon as the clashes broke out during Eid Nimaz, Kallu and Irshad along with their families ran for cover and finally found a shelter inside the shrine of 17th century Suffi Hazrat Shah Mohammad Assar-ud-Din Baghdi. As curfew was imposed in entire Kishtwar District with rioters moving freely in the town till 7 PM, Kallu and Irshad family got strck inside the shrine. After they were seen in distress by Ghulam Qadir Shah, one of the caretakers of the shrine, he took both Irshad Ahmed and Kallu's families to his homewhere they are staying till date . Both the families are now waiting for relaxation in Curfew to set out for their homes. People also hail the communal harmony between Irshad Ahmed and Kallu who remained united even when people were fighting against each other. While talking to "Early Times" Mushtaq Ahmed said that shrine of Suffi Saint Hazrat Shah Mohammad Asrar-ud-Din Baghdadi (RTA) is the symbol of communal harmony and brotherhood of Kishtwar. He said that people irrespective of their religion and caste pays obeisance at the shrine.
