Jammu, Aug 16: Power curtailment for around nine minutes played foul at the office of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Bahu Plaza, in a function organized by CCI to felicitate Home Secretary Anil Goswami for his maiden visit to Jammu, which is also native state of Goswami. At around 6:25 PM, when stage secretary Arun Gupta requested president of CCI YV Sharma to officially welcome Anil Goswami, power supply got curtailed which created tension among office bearers of CCI and other traders present in the hall. Programme got disrupted for around three minutes and CCI members assured that power supply would be resumed soon, but when Generator set was finally started, it failed to give backup. Then Anil Goswami asked CCI members to continue the programme without mike but due to darkness the idea didn't mature.
CCI members started chatting and in the meantime some office bearers left the dice and went to get generator set started. An office bearer said, "AC's Band Karo, other said switch off all fans and tubelights" but the second attempt of CCI to start generator got failed. One can be amazed to notice that in a conference hall of 30X30, CCI has installed nine fans, three AC's besides number of tube-lights and other electric equipments. Finally the tension among CCI members eased, when power supply got restored by PDD at 6:35 PM.
Meanwhile, when power supply restored and after President of Chamber of Commerce and Industries YV Sharma completed his address, Stage Secretary Arun Gupta got his tongue slipped. Instead of calling Union Home Secretary as "Son of the Soil", he called him as "Soil of the Son".
The slip of tongue of State Secretary invited some humiliation for CCI members as it was noticed by all, but Arun Gupta mend his speech. |
