Trifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir Alarmed NC ridicules itself by terming demand anti-national | | | Neha JAMMU, Aug 16: Convinced that the demand in Jammu and Ladakh for trifurcation of the state has caught the imagination of the people, clicked and become louder, the alarmed and perturbed NC leadership, which has been exploiting and destroying the people of these two regions since decades, has been ridiculing itself by terming the national, rational and constitutional demand "anti-national" and "divisive" for quite sometime now, particularly since July 30, when the Congress and the UPA decided to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to create a separate Telangana State. On Wednesday, one Jammu-based NC leader took a jibe at the BJP for what he called "crying hoarse about the sovereignty of the state being in danger" and said "there is no threat to the unity and integrity from the people (read NC and similar other outfits), but it is from the parties like the BJP which rakes up provocative issues like scrapping of article 370 and carving out of a separate state by trifurcating Jammu and Kashmir". "The demand for trifurcation is anti-national…Those advocating it are, in fact, conspiring against the larger interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in general and the country in particular. The National Conference has been tirelessly working for creating an atmosphere wherein every people belonging to various faiths and different regions (sick) live in a sense of pride as single entity. People must remain cautious against power hungry political outfits which take no mercy in compromising the public interest for furthering their political constituency," he also said, adding "the parties like PDP and BJP should see writing on the wall with people foiling their nefarious designs by showing immense degree of unity". His whole formulation was flawed and communally-motivated. The BJP and the PDP have never ever demanded trifurcation of the state. The BJP has been advocating the need of Jammu's political empowerment within the existing set-up. Of course, it stands for UT status for Ladakh. And there is absolutely nothing wrong if the BJP holds such a view. The people of Jammu and Ladakh have been suffering huge losses owing to the discriminatory policies evolved and implemented by the Kashmiri leadership in collaboration with the Congress party. They know that the Kashmiri leadership and its agents would never dispense justice to Jammu and Ladakh and that's the reason behind the loud clamour in these neglected regions for statehood and Union Territory status. As for the PDP, it has never supported the trifurcation demand. On the contrary, it has been advocating its self-rule doctrine, which the people of these regions have rejected outright saying it is the replica of the autonomy concept as advocated by the NC. Hence, it is wrong to accuse the PDP of working for the division of the state. In any case, how could a Jammu-based leader of the NC term the demand in Jammu and Ladakh for trifurcation as anti-national and divisive? Actually, it is the NC which could be charged with conspiring against the nation and the nationalist constituency in the state. Its condemnation of the Army, its demand for the revocation of the AFSPA, its insistence on autonomy or pre-1953 position; its insistence on India-Pakistan talks and its formulation that Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim-majority that needs a special status all establish that its credentials are extremely doubtful and that it has little or no regard for the Indian State, the Indian nation and the Indian Constitution. The NC leadership must first look these facts in the face and then dole sermons. |
