Kishtwar incidents Vested interests may fix responsibility on Bajrang Dal and VDCs

Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 16: Disturbing reports have appeared in a section of media about the August 9 Kishtwar unfortunate incidents, which disturbed communal harmony in the entire Jammu province and caused damage to the property of the minority community on an unprecedented scale, besides causing injuries to several persons and resulting in two deaths.
The general consensus was that certain anti-national elements, who were carrying with them deadly arms, petrol bottles and lathis and holding the Pakistani flags in their hands raising pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans, created the whole trouble.
There was also consensus that certain elements in the administration and police did not discharge their duties and it was their negative/indifferent attitude that helped the anti-national elements play havoc in the area. It was not for nothing that MoS Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo tendered resignation after being accused by the minority community of not rising to the occasion and not doing anything to prevent the anti-social elements from doing what they did for hours together.
However, it appear, that attempts are being made by certain vested interests to give a clean chit to the real culprits and fix the responsibility on the Village Defence Committees (VDCs) and Bajarang Dal (BD). An impression is being created that they "incited violence in Kishtwar on the holy festival of Eid". It is also being given to understand that certain "intelligence agencies are probing the role of right wing organizations, not only for inciting violence on August 9 but also the events before the clashes" and that the "Union Cabinet, which met on Monday, was informed about the intelligence inputs and the role of right wing organizations, particularly Bajrang Dal, in inciting Kishtwar lashes".
It is the duty of the those who would hold a judicial probe into the circumstances leading to what happened on August 9 and who was behind the despicable incidents, but the manner in which some reports have emanated from a couple of quarters have created serious doubts in the minds of the people as to the intentions of the powers-that-be. The Jammu-based parties must keep a watch on the developing situation so that no culprit goes scot-free.
