PDP lambasts State Govt for its failure to fulfill commitments | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Apr 4 : Senior PDP leader Shahzad Khan lambasted the government for its failure to address the problems being faced by the youth. According to press release, Shahzad Khan, while addressing the series of meetings at far flung areas of Rajouri said that the government has thoroughly ignored the youth who are considered the future of the country. He said that the youth are being forcefully pushed towards darkness. There is no schemes or policies or programmes for the youth, he said. Shahzad said that the lack of youth oriented policies and subsequent lack of attention towards them has led to a feeling of disenchantment and alienation among the youth. He said the number of unemployed youth seeking jobs registered with the employment exchanges is more than 6lakhs. He said that the rate of unemployment is the highest at 5.3 per cent in J&K among the northern states. The present government had announced at least one job in each household to middle passed unemployed youth with a promise to providing employment to all within 6 years. Shahzad said that the sixth year is going on but nothing has improved in the unemployed digits. He said that the employment schemes announced by the government in the recent past have had very few takers. Shahzad said that the other schemes like 'Udaan' and 'Himayat' have also received abysmally low response while the New Recruitment Policy is not only discriminative but also a violation of the Fundamental Rights. The Sher- e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) which was announced in 2010 with much fanfare wherein almost 26.60 crores have been spent under Voluntary Service Allowance has received a very poor response despite it being declared a historic initiative. The youth feel thoroughly disillusioned and neglected as despite so much pomp and show nothing is reaching to them. He said that the government has failed to create and tap employment opportunities and stand up to the expectation of the youth. Criticizing the government over its failure to address to the woes of the youth, he said that unemployment is taking a toll of the youth and this has led to feeling of alienation and disillusionment among the youth which is driving them on the brink of breakdown. Shahzad said that no step has been taken by the government in promoting either government related jobs or self employment. Unlike some other parts of the state, there has not taken any place any recruitment drive including on spot recruitment in Rajouri-Poonch districts. Shahzad has also criticized the government for the backdoor entries in providing jobs to their kiths and kins as also the re-employment of government officials. He has said that there is need to harness new talents among the youth but unfortunately, the government is reemploying their favourite people around. Nothing has been done to develop tourism which will not only create employment avenues for the youth but also bring economic growth in the region. He further said that there is no sports policy either so that the youth could develop their skills in this field. He said that the sports stadium being constructed has been left half way because of the apathetic attitude of the government. The energy and spirit of the youth need to be channelized and utilized in a proper way so that their energy is channelized. Shahzad said that the time has come for the youth to gear themselves up and bring in change, a change for the welfare and promotion of youth and youth policies. He has urged the youth that they are the future of the country and they cannot be ignored. He has urged the youth to use their democratic rights to elect their representative soundly. Others who present in the meetings were Rahid Khan, Maqbool Kamlak, Jhangir Khan, Ch Abdul Ghani, Sadiq chowdhary, Tufail Hussain Ch., Tahir Hussain, Sameer Ahmed and Haji Shafiq Qureshi. |
