Statements, speeches loaded with bitter words against PM candidate | Congress, NC centralizing campaign on Modi bashing | | ET Report JAMMU, Mar 4: As poll campaign is fast gathering momentum, ruling coalition allies Congress and National Conference are centralizing their energy on what looks like the only agenda to seek votes for their candidates- Modi bashing to the core. Be it for two seats of Jammu region or campaign which has begun for Valley seats on which NC is contesting, the stalwarts have speeches at public rallies spun with loads of criticism and harsh words short of abuses against BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi. For the last three consecutive days, the press notes issued by the Pradesh Congress Committee have statements of president Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz-MP with highlights of main points he uttered while addressing public meetings at various places. All these statements apart of from having routine talking points of Congress in terms of its avowed love for secularism, communal harmony etc have a common denominator of Modi bashing out and out , through the length and breadth of the statement. Rather than touching upon issues of governance or what Congress led UPA has done for the people of the constituencies, Congress has been magnifying poll campaign in hitting out at its rival BJP, as if there is no other party in the fray. The yardstick so adopted in taking on Narendra Modi rather than the party is common with all stalwarts of Congress. Targetting BJP and Modi bashing is to some extent understood for Congress leaders and its candidates in fray on two Jammu seats where they see the contest and threat from the party for the first time which speaks why they are doing so desperately, as observed by many as hate Modi campaign. While everyone in National Conference including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is toeing the line in coming down heavily upon Narendra Modi in almost all public rallies addressed in Jammu region so far, particularly in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, one fails to understand why NC stalwarts like Dr Farooq Abdullah and even Omar Abdullah himself is on Modi bashing spree while addressing rallies in Kashmir for their own candidates as BJP is not even in reckoning on these seats. Only few days back Farooq Abdullah was seen and heard lashing out at Narendra Modi while he spoke in Kashmiri language in some village in valley. In the press note issued by Congress, Modi was the centre of criticism by PCC chief Prof Soz again while he addressed public meetings in Gujjar Nagar and Gumat Bazar in Jammu today. Whether they admit or not, the fact remains both the parties are caught up waves of Modi phobia which gets amply reflected in harsh criticism, at times in unwarranted situations and context. |
