NPSU lambasts state govt for ignoring culture, tradition of Nagbani area | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 16: Expressing concern over the discrimination meted out to the Nagbani, National Panthers Student Union (NPSU) lambasted successive governments for ignoring culture and tradition of Nagbani area. Addressing a press conference here today NPSU State President Partap Singh Jamwal said that the Annual Baisakhi Mela at Nagbani, which was started by Maharaja Hari Singh himself, has been craving for attention. "Maharaja Hari Singh started this Annual Mela of Baisakhi to maintain culture and tradition of the Duggars of Jammu", said Partap Singh, adding that since that time people of the area are organizing such melas of their own without any assistance from the successive government. Taking dig at the State Govt., Partap said that the government of the state is well bent towards Kashmir and are ignoring culture of Jammu. He said, "People of Nagbani had a legacy of Nationalists and Patriots. But, despite government indifference approach, the people kept sweating hard to keep their culture alive," he said. He further said that people of Nagbani area contribute themselves and organize such Melas. "Due to no participation of government, several problems have been confronted by the people of the area during Mela", he said adding without administration the Mela turns Chaotic and chances of stampede increases. "There is no security for the people, no health care facilities and no administrative participation, which creates furor during the mela. Partap Singh asserted that the government should organize such melas to maintain legacy of the Maharaja and keep Duggar culture alive in Jammu and Kashmir. Partap demand that Govt. should constitute a Board or Committee which look after and organize such melas. |
