MENDHAR, Apr 16: A major infiltration bid was foiled today in Mendhar sector by the vigilant army personnel present in the area in the wee hours today as security personnel noticed some suspicious movement of the ultras across the LoC at Thundar area on the other side of the border.
Seven to eight heavily armed militants of LeT cadre made a desperate attempt to sneak into this side of the LoC around about 3.30 a.m in the morning who were spotted by the vigilant army personnel deployed in the area.

The jawans of 120 JAT Regiment advanced forward into the deeper confines of Balakote near the LoC and flushed out the terrorists who reportedly retrieved back to Pakistan fearing the loss of life.
Meanwhile, the army jawans embarked upon a scanning exercise to sanitise the area and the flushing drive was launched to evacuate the terrorists from the region spanning Tarkundi nullah.
The search and flushing operation was carried on for 12 long hours after which the army called off the operation after being satisfied to have sanitised the whole area.
However as per the intelligent inputs available, nearly 20 to 25 ultras are waiting on the other side of the LoC waiting for a chance to sneak into the Indian Territory.
The reliable sources put the number to 25 who are based in Maitraniya village in Pakistan, adjacent to Balakote on the other side of LoC.
The terrorists awaiting an opportunity to steal into this side of the Indian Territory have made launching pads in the Maitraniya village and are being provided holistic and moral support by 640 Mujahid Regiment of Pakistan establishment, the reliable sources quote.
Sources further reveal that out of many militants awaiting a chance to sneak into the Indian Territory, many among them are those who had crossed over to that side of Pakistan from different areas of Sunderbani, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar and Naushera and are trying for their return on te Indian soil to surrender before the army.
Meanwhile, high alert have been sounded in the entire belt, particularly in the sensitive forward areas of Krishna Ghati, Gulpur, Poonch, Mandi and Sabzian where ultras are reportedly waiting at the launching pads on the other side to launch offensive on the India army.
