CJM issues fresh NBWs in Wamiq Farooq case | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 16 : Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar today issued fresh non-bailble arrest warrants against ASI Abdul Khaliq and SPO Mohammad Akram in connection with the killing of a boy Wamiq Farooq in old city here in 2010. The CJM V S Bahu issued the warrants to be executed by SSP Srinagar for procuring the attendance of the accused on May 10. "SSP Srinagar is directed to ensure execution of warrants against bothb accused persons, because the report filed by the SSP is indicative of the fact that SHO concerned has not executed the warrants, nor the Principal concerned has executed the warrants," the CJM said. The court also directed the SSP to conduct an inquiry against the SHO Nowgam for failure to execute the NBW against ASI. "Principal Talwara shall also tender explanation for his lapse to execute warrants against the SPO," the court said. Pertinently, Wamiq Farooq, a class 7th student, was hit by a tear smoke shell at Gani Memorial Stadium in old city in 2010. He died on the spot. The arrest warrants were actually issued in August 2013. However, before they could be executed, the accused filed a revision petition before the Sessions court which stayed it. The revision petition was dismissed on February 26 by the sessions, vacating the stay and directing execution of the warrants by March 3. |
