Beigh to file nomination today | 7 candidates in fray for Baramulla seat | | Syed Tahir Bukhari
BARAMULLA, Apr 17: Seven candidates have filed their nomination papers for Baramulla Parliamentary constituency so far. There are two independents and one each from PC, BJP and JKNPP respectively and one from National-Congress alliance in the fray. PDP candidate will file nomination papers on Friday and AIP on the last day of deadline. Mohammad Abbas Pandith son of Mohammad Sadiq Pandith of Mirgund Pattan submitted his nomination papers as an independent candidate before the returning officer of 1-Baramulla Parliamentary constituency seat. Independent candidate Mohammad Abbas who filed his nomination from Baramulla Parliamentary seat on Wednesday has declared his immovable and moveable assets. These are worth Rs 33 lacs as per self estimation. Pandith's affidavit suggests that he has Rs 3 lac worth moveable assets and immovable property 30 lacs as per approximate current market value. Tanveer Hussain son of Ghualm Ahmad of GundKhaja Qasim, Pattan also submitted his nomination papers as an independent candidate before the returning officer of 1-Baramulla Parliamentary constituency seat. Independent candidate Tanveer Hussian who filed his nomination from Baramulla Parliamentary seat on Wednesday has declared his immovable and moveable assets. These are worth Rs 15.50 lacs as per the self estimation. Hussain's affidavit suggests that he has Rs 3.50 lac worth moveable assets and immovable property 12 lacs as per approximate current market value. Five candidates have submitted their nominations forms on Wednesday, which includes Sitting Member Parliament and National Conference-Congress Alliance candidate, Sharif Ud-Din Shariq BJP Ghulam Mohammad Mir, Peoples Conference Salam Ud- Din Bajard and its covering candidate, Khursheed Ahmad Khan, and JKNPP Syed Mohammad Rafiq Shah. Early Times have learnt from a reliable source that Peoples Democratic Party candidate and MLA Baramulla, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh who was scheduled to submit his nomination paper on Thursday. However the programme was postponed till Friday. Awami Itihad Party(AIP) chief and nominated candidate for Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency, Engineer Abdul Rasheed is likely to file his nomination papers before the returning officer on last day of dead line ( 19 April). The last date for filing of nomination is 19 April while scrutiny will take place on 21 April and last date for nomination withdrawal is 23 April. The constituency is going for polls on May 7 and counting will take place on 16 May. Meanwhile, due to continuous rains in North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Thursday, candidates of respective political parties including candidates of National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party and Peoples Conference exercised their efforts despite heavy rains, to reach out to the maximum number of people of far flung area for votes. |
