SRINAGAR, Apr 17: As the canons of Model code of conduct (MCC) of the election commission of India restricts politicians in power not to use their positions for political gains, yet the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir is openly violating MCC time and again to grab vote bank for the Lok Sabha candidate of his party.
After violating the MCC with impunity in Ramnagri village just two days back, today while addressing a gathering of people in D.K Pora of Wachi constituency, Chief Minister did it again by promising people to fulfill their demands in exchange for their vote in favour of National Conference- Congress alliance candidate from South Kashmir constituency Mehboob Beigh.
As per the evidence in possession of Early Times, the Chief Minister who on his turn while addressing the people in D.K Pora was interrupted by National Conference Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Showkat Ganai and informed Omar Abdullah that people of the area want a Police recruitment drive in the area and the Chief Minister after listening to the demand of Showkat Ganai while addressing the gathering again announced that 'Showkat Sahab has asked for Police recruitment in the area' on which NC supporters in the crowd stood up and started cheering for Omar Abdullah and raised slogans in favour of NC and its leadership and later within seconds Omar Abdullah announced that: "Aaj Election Ka Code Laga Hai, Mai Kuch Zyada Nahi Keh Sakta, Lekin Kehte Hai Ki Samajdar Ke Liye Ishara Hi Kafi Hai, Aap Bas Ishara Samjo, Baki Mera Kaam Hai Karna."
The Chief Minister who was accompanied by NC-Congress alliance candidate for south Kashmir Parliamentary seat, Mehboob Beigh, senior NC leaders Ali Mohammad Sagar, and Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri on the occasion while addressing the people also said that after the Month of May he only will be the Chief Minister then also and National conference leadership will again visit their area and fulfill all their demands.
Pertinently as the violation of MCC goes unabated in Kashmir, today it was second time When Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah violated the MCC to grab votes for the candidate of his party as just two days Back Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in his speech while addressing a gathering of people in Ramnagri village of south Kashmir said that "I will fulfill your list of demands with my pen after May provided you cost your each vote in favor of Mehboob Beigh and National conference to make Mehboob Beigh and National conference successful."
