CTD Kmr seizes 12 Qtls polythene at Lower Munda | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 17: Commercial Taxes Department (CTD) Kashmir continuing its drive against polythene today has seized 12.00 Qtls of banned polythene at Commercial Taxes Checkpost Lowermunda in a vehicle which was carrying rice of FCI and coming from Jammu to Anantnag. Giving details, Commercial Taxes Officer Checkpost Lower Munda, Hamid Ganai said that a vehicle bearing regd no: JK03D/0849 approached check post for clearance on Wednesday evening and produced the challan of FCI bearing number 9059 dtd 15/04/14 and documents were shown to carry the 92 quintals of rice of FCI. "The vehicle was put to under routine physical check and during the physical inspection it was established that 48 bags of banned polythene are excess in quantity and were kept hidden with the FCI goods clandestinely," he added. "The vehicle was coming from FCI depot Railway Station Jammu and was supposed to deliver the rice at FCI Godowns Mirbazar Anantnag, official said and added, "accordingly, goods were inventoried and offloaded at the check post and penalty proceedings under various sections of Jammu and Kashmir VAT Act 2005 were registered against the driver/incharge of vehicle /incharge of goods." Underlining that steps are being taken up at this check post to stop the illegal import of banned polythene to valley, he said that the department has seized 155 Quintals banned polythene during the financial year 2013-14 and same was handed over to State Pollution Control Board Srinagar 01/03/2014 for confiscations proceedings on scientific methods and in compliance to the directions of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir. |
