Benia wins Domel Kesari dangal

Jammu, Apr 21: Wrestler Benia Min of J&K Police of Basantgarh in District Udhampur lifted "25th Domel Kesari 2014" title by defeating Wrestler Prince of Amritsar in Punjab a thrilling bout that lasted for 20 minutes at Domel on National Highway in Tehsil and District Jammu . Dangal was organized by Domel Dangal committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the over all supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharm, Serpanch Mohd.Sadiq, Jambal Dass and Puran Chand.
State General Secretary BSP Rakesh Wazir was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runners-up Wrestlers. Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India and President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Noor Ali Dansalia District Jammu secretary Rural NC was the guest of honour. Sarpanches Romesh Chander, Varinder Sharma President District Udhampur Indian Style Wrestling Association, Sarpanch Angrej Singh, Sarpanch Rameshwar Singh, Sarpanch Rattan Singh and General Secretary District Reasi Indian Style Wrestling Association Naresh Kumar (Pappu lakri) were among other prominent present.
Winner of the title bout Benia Min presented with cash prize of Rs 17000 in addition to Silver Gurj (Gadda) and Patta" by Rakesh Wazir and Shiv Kumar Sharma while runner-up Wrestler Prince got Rs 14000 Rakesh Wazir contributed Rs 15000 as financial assistance to the organizers.
In all 54 bouts took place in this historic Vishal Dangal. The second main bout fought between Pamma of Dera Baba Nanak and Narinder of Ladpur Haryana. This bout was won by Pamma. Cash prize of Rs 15000 presented to Pamma while Runner-up Wrestler Narinder got Rs 10000. Third main bout was won by Sukha of Rajasthan who defeated Kaka of Amritsar Rs 12000 was given to Wrestler Sukha while runner-up Wrestler Kaka got 9000. 4th main bout was won by Bagga of Amritsar who beat Kaka of R.S Pura. Cash prize of Rs 10000 was given to winner Wrestler Bagga while runner-up wrestler Kaka got Rs. 8000, 5th main bout was won by Sukha of Gurdaspur who beat Roshan lal of Muthi. Cash prize Rs 6000 was given to Sukha while runner-up wrestler Roshan got Rs 4000 and other 5th bout was won by Gurmail of BSF who defeated Sonu of Haryana cash prize Rs 6000 was given to Gurmail while runner-up Wrestler Sonu got Rs 4000.
Domel Dangal Committee members and technical officials who helped in conduct of this one day long Wrestling event included Sarpanch Mohd. Sadiq, Sarpanch Romesh Chander, Jamabal Dass,Puran Chand, Makhan Lal, Punjabi Ram, Shanty Lal, Ram Kumar, Raj Kumar Seth, Raj Kumar, Sudershan Sharma, Davinder Kumar, Yog Raj Sharma, Mohd fareed, Vijay Singh (Vijju) Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Amit Sharma(Vicky), Rajinder Kumar Ramotra and Murli Dhar (Munna).
Rakesh Wazir complimented Dangal committee for successful conduct of Dangal and said that holding of such events in the state send a message of love ,peace, unity and brotherhood to the entire country and the youth who are taking wrong paths now a days get inspiration to do something positive.

Shiv Kumar Sharma complimented the organizers for holding this mega wrestling event efficiently which is a regular feature for last 25 years. Sharma said an amount of Rs 2,25,000 has been incurred for the conduct of this Vishal Dangal and nearly 15,000 to 20,000 people from all surroundings witnessed this one day long Wrestling event.

DG DYSS inaugurates play field

JAMMU, Apr 21: To give flip to the sports activity in the State the Director General Youth Services and Sports Navin Agarwal (IPS) formally inaugurated today the playfield of Govt. High School Keerpind (Miran Sahib Zone) amidst thundering applauds from the local people here in the premises of Govt. High School Keerpind today. The playfield was developed by the department of Youth Services and Sport out of District Plan in the year 2013-14.
Large number of Students players and local people of the area including the Sarpanches and Panches attended the inaugural function. While addressing the local people and the student players the Director General said to exploit the talent at optimum level the department of youth services has initiated various schemes for the development of sports infrastructure in the state to give boost to the sports activities of the department.
Earlier, the local people of the area demanded the construction of Basketball Court in the premises of the school, so that student players may get the sports facilities in the school. They also demanded sports equipment from the department youth services and sports to the needy institutions. The Director General Youth Services and Sports assured them that sports equipment shall be provided to the needy institutions within couple of days and regarding the development of Basketball Court, he gave on spot instructions for the development of Basket Ball Court at an earliest. By which the local student players can be benefited by participating various sports activities.
The local people were so enthusiastic that they welcomed the Director General Youth Services and Sports and told him that this is for the first time that any Head of the Department has visited this institution. Those who were present on the inaugural function were Ved Parkash (KAS) Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Sarita Pandha (ZPEO Miran Sahib), Jeet Singh (ZPEO Gandhi Nagar).

Bravo set to miss rest of IPL owing to shoulder injury

Abu Dhabi, Apr 21: Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is set to miss the rest of ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League due to a shoulder injury, dealing a blow to the two-time champions as the West Indian has been integral part of the side. Ahead of today`s match against Delhi Daredevils, CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that Bravo could miss "4 to 5 weeks" of IPL-7 after a bad fall in the last game. "Sad that he won`t be part of the dressing room, hope he recovers soon," Dhoni said. Bravo had suffered the injury while fielding during Kings XI Punjab`s innings last Friday.


Inter House Cricket match held at RM Public School

JAMMU, Apr 21: There is no end to education. The whole of life, from the moment of you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning. A part from curriculum RM Public School organized the inter house T-20 cricket match. The match has been held between Tawi-Jhelum and Basantar - chenab. Both the teams played well. The players of Tawi-Jhelum registered victory over Basantar Chenab by 8 runs and girl of the match has been given to Jasreen kour of class 7th.
The chief guest was the trustee of RM public School Rita Mengi was the witness of the match.
Principal of RM Public School, Ravinder Kour and Administration Meenakshi Sharma were also present there. They honoured the players with prizes and encouraged the students to take part in games and sports. They also appreciate the sports teachers Padma Thinels, Rajesh Choudhary and scorer Maninder singh for their hard work and their contribution to make this event successful.

Gamblers Club wins by 6 wkts

POONCH, Apr 21: Gamblers Club defeated Habib Club to enter into the next round of the ongoing J&K Police Martyrs' Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Government Degree College ground, here today.
Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Habib Club made 101 runs for six wickets. Shabir Zargar and Akhnil contributed highest 28 and 27 runs respectively. From Glambers Club, Gurvinder Singh took four wickets while Deepak bagged two.
In reply, Glambers Club chased the target in 13 overs making 103 runs with six wickets in hand. Sharu and Gurvinder remained top scorers with 31 and 40 runs in their respective accounts.
Information Officer, Waqar Talib was special guest, who interacted with the teams. Also present were Tariq Khan, JP singh, Javaied Iqbal, Daman Preet and Shakeel Ahmed.


KC Gurukul outshines in Rope skipping C’ship

Jammu, Apr 21: Yet another feather added to the glory of KC Gurukul Public School Jammu when students outshined at 4th district Jammu rope skipping Championship at Baby Catt. Hall Rehari, Jammu. Aditya Sharma of class 5th and Arya Verma of class 9th bagged gold medals where as Aryan Tejsav of class 5th Sheita Khanna of class 10th bagged the bronze medals. Academic director Vijay Puri applauded the children and appreciated their talent and said that such events are essential for physical fitness. The coach Rajesh Kumar gave untiring practice and built confidence amongst the children.


GHS Badyal Brahmana organises Kabaddi meet

Jammu, Apr 21: Government Boys High School Badyal Brahmana today organised inter-house Kabaddi competition in under-14 and under-17 age groups at school premises.
In under-17 category, Sindh House outplayed Jehlum House 30-26 in the final. Similarly, in under-14 final, Tawi House outplayed Chenab House (22-21) in a close contest. The competition officiated by Dr Sham Singh, Manjeet Singh and Kamini Kapoor.
In the prize distribution function, Headmaster of the School, Yash Paul Choudhary was chief guest who gave away the trophies.
The competition was conducted under the supervision of Physical Education Master, Kulbir Singh Chib and Physical Education Teacher, Mulkh Raj Sharma. Also present were Swarn Kumar, Nirman Kour and Jitender.
