Omar too floats on 'Modi wave' | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Apr 21:Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's confession of a Modi wave across the country has not come as a surprise as political commentators believe that given the high probability of NC faring dismally in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections and the Assembly elections that shall follow soon after, Omar has started making preparations for a suitable political refuge in New Delhi post May 16. The CM in two consecutive interviews, to different channels, has agreed that there is definitely Modi wave. "People are voting for Modi not for the candidate of the BJP. It shows the impact of the Modi wave," he had said. Omar, who about week back was saying that there was no Modi wave and Rahul Gandhi, the Congress vice-president will become the Prime Minister, has clearly read the writing on the wall. Omar had also said in an interview that he had told the Congress about the impending danger of the Modi wave but no corrective measures were taken, though he had said that NC will continue be an ally of the Congress. According to sources, Omar has ample inputs that the NC-Cong alliance may get at the best only Srinagar seat. It will be a major setback NC and Omar Abdullah as all five-seat are likely to go to the opposition when he is the CM and had invested so much in these elections. According to political watchers, the CM had to make a shift from his Modi bashing posture as the State is heavily dependent on the Centre and by antagonizing it, the State can't survive f economically and politically. According to sources, Omar had sped up efforts of bridging gaps with Modi and had also given a signal that NC can abandon Congress also for its political survival.
